Salary Range: $270,000 – $290,000 annually
A leading financial institution with multiple offices throughout the United States is seeking an experienced and highly capable Director of Security to lead enterprise-wide security operations, executive protection coordination, risk management initiatives, and physical security strategy. This position is based in New York City, with 10%-15% travel requirements.
This role requires a proven leader with a strong blend of law enforcement supervisory experience and high-level corporate security management expertise. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional operational judgment, executive presence, and the ability to oversee complex security programs across multiple domestic locations in a highly regulated and fast-paced environment.
Position Overview
The Director of Security will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of the organization’s physical security and protective operations program. This individual will work closely with executive leadership to ensure the safety of personnel, facilities, assets, and operations while maintaining operational continuity and regulatory alignment.
The position requires both strategic leadership and hands-on operational oversight, including coordination with law enforcement agencies, vendor management, incident response planning, executive protection oversight, and multi-site security operations management.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage enterprise-wide physical security operations across multiple U.S. offices and facilities
Develop and execute comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures
Oversee executive protection coordination for senior leadership and key personnel
Manage security vendors, guard force operations, and contracted protective services
Conduct threat assessments, vulnerability assessments, and security audits
Develop and maintain emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity protocols
Coordinate investigations involving workplace incidents, threats, fraud, or security breaches
Build and maintain strong relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies
Oversee access control systems, surveillance technologies, alarm systems, and related security infrastructure
Prepare executive-level reports, risk briefings, and strategic security recommendations
Ensure compliance with applicable financial industry security standards and corporate policies
Lead, mentor, and develop security personnel and regional security managers
Required Qualifications
Prior law enforcement experience required, preferably in a supervisory, command-level, investigative, or specialized operational capacity
Significant corporate security leadership experience within a large organization, financial institution, or similarly complex environment
Demonstrated experience managing multi-site security operations
Strong leadership, organizational, and crisis management capabilities
Experience overseeing executive protection operations and protective intelligence initiatives
Proven ability to manage sensitive incidents with professionalism and discretion
Strong understanding of physical security systems, risk mitigation strategies, and emergency response planning
Excellent communication and executive briefing skills
Ability to travel domestically as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within banking, finance, or other highly regulated industries
Military leadership experience is a plus
Professional security certifications such as CPP, PSP, PCI, or similar credentials preferred
Experience managing large security budgets and vendor contracts
